Back in 2004 the SIMS Disaster Recovery Center was announced and immediately set the standard
for other vendors to try and follow. From day one we've been able to support up to three
central stations live in the SIMS Disaster Recovery Center simultaneously (we currently support four). We've also been
able to provide dispatching staff, let your staff dispatch remotely or arrange with a third
party for dispatching services. For a fraction of the price a site could setup their own
remote Disaster Recovery Center, the peace of mind that it's there when needed is invaluable.
Even better, the Nightly backup service is included in the basic software support plan for all SIMS
centrals at no additional cost. These are compressed, encrypted and sent to secure
storage servers at the SIMS, Inc. disaster site outside Dallas TX via daily Internet transfers. The
encryption key can be held by the central station and can only be unlocked by the central in the case
of an emergency. SIMS will store up to the last thirty one backups for every SIMS central station
as well as an accumulation of history. This is better than many sites have for their own backups already.
The full Disaster Recovery option takes this one step further and is available to all
SIMS Inc centrals on support, regardless of size, for a small yearly fee. This service includes rerouting digital alarms plus non-digital alarm communications like
Derived Channel, DVACS, Alarmnet, and other proprietary receivers to the SIMS Disaster Recovery Center for processing.
SIMS Inc. will provide short term monitoring while the affected company organizes its operators for
remote monitoring via the internet or until a third-party monitoring station that has
been contracted with takes over. Even if a third party is dispatching for you, your data remains at SIMS on our servers. The third party
central station that has been contracted, never has access to your raw data.
Many of the SIMS Staff are CSAA Level I or CSAA Level II Certified Operators who can dispatch for sites
utilizing the SIMS Disaster Recovery Center.
Most sites think they are prepared until a storm comes through, a backhoe takes out your telephone lines or there is a building issue
such as a gas leak or fire. Are you prepared? Don't have hurricanes or earthquakes where you are located so you think you are fine? Click on the history/testimonials link to the right for statistics about previous SIMS Disaster Recovery Center activations to
see why you probably are not as prepared as you think you are. Typically more than 75% of the activations are not weather
related issues, but telephone line problems.
